Fantasy Impact: Justin Jefferson Lands in Minnesota
With the selection of Justin Jefferson, the Vikings have a new weapon alongside Adam Thielen.
With the 22nd pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings have replaced Stefon Diggs with Justin Jefferson from LSU. Jefferson was a joy to watch in college. He hauled in 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns in the monstrous LSU offense.
Jefferson is going to be a strategic pick in any fantasy draft. He gets the benefit of having veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins feeding him the ball, so naturally the transition to the pro level should be fairly smooth in that aspect.
However, he will be competing with the clear number one target in Adam Thielen. When Diggs was sent packing to Buffalo, Thielen immediately became the obvious number one weapon in the Vikings air attack.
The addition of Jefferson is very interesting. A selection such as this has the potential ceiling of a D.K. Metcalf in Seattle or Calvin Ridley in Atlanta type of production. Both players were drafted to teams with veteran quarterbacks and leadership as well as clear-cut top receivers to lean on.
Jefferson should be on your draft boards but limited to later in the seventh to ninth rounds.
