Many people thought the Bears were trading up or down with one of their second-round picks, but they stood in place and snagged two great players. First was Notre Dame’s Cole Kmet, and now with their 50th pick, the Bears have selected Jaylon Johnson, a cornerback from Utah.

Johnson, who received a first-round draft grade, was the third-highest rated corner on most draft boards and was second-team All American in 2019. Johnson has some injury concerns and that is most likely why he slipped out of the first round, but Bears fans know how that worked out with Eddie Jackson. One can only hope Johnson can produce at a similar level as Jackson because if he does, this is a home run selection. Toughness isn’t a question for Jaylon Johnson considering he played the entire season with a torn labrum and didn’t even know it.

Daniel Jeremiah gave Ryan Pace praise on live television, saying, “He got two first-round draft picks in the second,” and that was all while staying put with his selections. Ryan Pace has an outstanding track record for drafting second-round talent, so Bears fans hope both players can come in and be day-one contributors.
