The Bears have selected Cole Kmet with their 43rd overall pick. If you didn’t think they had enough tight ends on their roster already, here is another one for you.
Even after Trey Burton‘s release, the Bears currently have ten tight ends on their roster. Kmet was projected as the top tight end in this year’s draft class and the Bears were able to get him without trading up. He put on a show on the combine, running a 4.7 40-yard dash. In 2019, Kmet had 43 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns for the Fighting Irish.
All of the fans calling for a tight end with the 43rd overall pick are extremely happy with the pick, along with our staff at Irish OnTap. Most tight ends take time to develop, so it would be unsurprising if he doesn’t make a huge impact in year one. Down the road, he could be their stud U tight end after he adjusts to the league.
