The first tight end is off the board in this year’s draft as Cole Kmet is on his way to the Chicago Bears. This pick may be met with some skepticism in Chicago, but the fact of the matter is that the Bears offense really needs to pick up its game this season.
The battle for Kmet to get on the field will begin immediately. He is joining a Bears’ tight end room that is absolutely loaded with players. Even with a mass quantity of bodies already in place, Kmet instantly comes in as the second-best tight end in that room. What will his fantasy impact truly look like this season? Truthfully, he shouldn’t have much of an impact this season. He comes into an offense that looks for two major tight ends, however.
The 2019 campaign was his breakout season in college. Kmet recorded 43 receptions for 515 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 12 yards per catch and served as the safety blanket for his quarterback. Given the Bears’ need for production from the tight end position, keep an eye out for Kmet every week during this upcoming season.
