Shortly after the Bears traded back into the fifth round to grab Trevis Gipson, Ryan Pace came right back with another defensive selection. This time, it was of Georgia Southern CB Kindle Vildor.
Vildor started his last two seasons at Georgia Southen and grabbed six interceptions in over those campaigns while adding in a sneaky 7.5 tackles for loss. Some of his best work is in zone coverage, as he has a quick ability to break on the ball. In 2018, he posted 12 pass breakups, but that number decreased to six in 2019. He will certainly be able to learn from the pros already in Chicago.
Ryan Pace and Co. did say a few days ago that you can never have enough depth at this position. They also added a few players at this spot in the offseason as well as Duke Shelley in last seasons draft. Vidlor comes in with a chance to compete for a spot on the roster and make an impact.
