In an article by John Taylor of NBC Sports.com, it was announced today that NIU Athletic Director Sean Frazier and Head Football Coach Thomas Hammock will both be taking a “10-percent cut in pay” when the schools fiscal year starts in July.

In the article, Frazier says his goal is to help keep NIU running.

“My primary concern and focus are that any budget reductions/cuts that we might have to make (either institutional, departmental or conference-wide) will only affect the student/staff experience if there is a significant financial savings to preserve our institution’s operations.”

– NIU Athletic Director Sean Frazier

Hammock made $610,000 last year, ranking sixth in the MAC in terms of head coaching salary.

Huskies On Tap had Coach Hammock on the show a few weeks ago and this act of kindness is not random on behalf of the NIU alum. Take a listen and find out how great “Coach Ham” really is.

Thank you to Ross Bowers once again for helping align the interview with Huskies On Tap.
