Beer Review: Founders – Pilsner
It pours a beautiful clear gold with a light 3/4 inch of head that quickly dissolves. It looks every part of the style it’s trying to be.
I love this time of year. We are rolling heavy with the summer beers. It seems every couple of weeks I’m finding a new light beer to try. I always love these because typically you get a little more bang for your buck. You can find 12 or 15 packs for around $15 or less and they will last you at least a couple of days. I feel like these are the beers that everybody should be giving a try. Even if you have no interest in the craft beer scene, these are basically a domestic style of beer but so much better.
This is my first time seeing Founders Pilsner. I have liked almost every Founders beer I’ve had so I was looking forward to trying this one. It pours a beautiful clear gold with a light 3/4 inch of head that quickly dissolves. It looks every part of the style it’s trying to be. This beer checks in at 5.5% ABV, which is just a little stronger than most pilsners, and it came in a 15-pack. It’s crisp, refreshing, and absolutely everything I am looking for in a light beer. This is an American style lager all the way with a smooth, malty finish.
I let my wife try this beer because up to this point she’s only tried the stronger beers and I was curious what she would have to say. She noticed right away this was not as strong as the other beers she has tried. She agreed that even though she didn’t really like it, she acknowledged that this seemed like a beer that a casual beer drinker should love. I agree, but I would also like to add that I think this is a beer for everyone.
This is without a doubt the best light beer I’ve had this year. Stop buying your stupid beer with a certain logo on it. If you’re into domestics, do yourself a favor and give this beer a shot. I love it and I’ll definitely be drinking more of them this summer.
