Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Chairman of the Chicago Bears, Michael McCaskey, passed away tonight after a long battle with cancer.
Michael, the son of current team president Virginia Halas McCaskey and grandchild to George Halas, was the Bears’ chairman of the team from 1999 to 2011 before his brother George took over in the same role.
McCaskey was named the Sporting News Executive of the Year in 1985 following the Super Bowl win. He was the first Bears’ general manager to win the award since Halas in 1956.
Michael McCaskey was 76 years old.
