Ian Happ has had a very interesting career as a member of the Chicago Cubs.

The former first round pick came up to the big leagues in 2017 and hit a towering 413 foot bomb in his first game in the show. He finished the 2017 season with 24 homeruns and 67 RBIs in only 115 games. That RBI number put him in 3rd overall for RBIs among rookies in 2017.

Happ’s sophomore season would be what people call ‘a sophomore slump’. He finished the season slashing .233/.353/.408 with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in 142 games. His biggest issue coming in the swing and miss department, Happ struckout 167 times in 2018.

His issues in 2018 led to a shocking revelation from Joe Maddon. Ian Happ would be starting off the 2019 season in Iowa after posting abysmal numbers in Spring Training. He was recalled to the majors later that summer and seemed to really find his swing in the second half of the 2019 season.

Ask Cubs fans how they feel about Ian Happ and you will most likely get a different answer from each fan. The smart fans know he has a lot of promise, others just look at his stint in the minors as a scarlet letter of incompetence.

With all of that being said, Ian Happ is a man of the people. He showed that by his most recent comments on the hopeful upcoming MLB season on 670 the Score.

He also noted that what is happening right now in baseball is ‘not pretty’. He knows the proposed rules will be more strict at first and eventually be loosened as time goes on.

Ian understands just how important it is to get the boys back on the field. His biggest concern is player safety as it should be. He knows that baseball can be a unifying object for our country in these difficult times.

Ian Happ wants baseball to move forward for us, for the fans, for the people. He just wants to get out there and put on a show for the world to see.

Time to come to an agreement and play ball!
