BREAKING: 24-team Playoff Reportedly Approved

TSN’s Bob McKenzie tweeted Friday that the 24-team playoff format is expected to be approved by the NHL and NHLPA.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie has put the hockey world into a frenzy with his most recent thread of tweets. The NHL and NHLPA met yesterday, May 22, to vote on the 24-team playoff format, and though it is not yet official, it is reported to have been approved.

There is still a lot of work to do and an official announcement to be made, but all signs point to hockey returning sometime this summer.

In the reported 24-team playoff format, the Blackhawks would play the Edmonton Oilers in a best-of-five series, with the winner facing the Dallas Stars.

Hang in there everyone. We are one step closer to having live hockey back.
