Though our friends over at Three Floyd’s Brew Pub are closing for a bit, it doesn’t mean we cannot purchase arguably the best beer they put out. The brewery will remain open but the restaurant and store are closing for a bit.
I was at my local liquor store this Memorial Day weekend and I came across an old friend. That old friend is Gumballhead.

I’ve been on a sour kick since it’s now becoming warm in the Chicagoland area, but my eye was once again drawn to this masterpiece of a beer.
Gumballhead pours a nice looking, slightly hazy golden yellow, with about an inch of foamy head. The aroma has a lot of citrus overtones to it. Lemon, orange, and all coming together with a strong wheat scent.
Depending on the pour the flavor is hoppy, full of wheat, and has a touch of citrus aftertaste. It has just the right balance of herbal and floral hop bitterness throughout.
If you see this beer at your local grocery/liquor store, pick it up and give it a try. You won’t regret it.
