The night starts off with the Triple Threat Tiebreaker match for Group A of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. It is Drake Maverick vs. Kushida vs. Jake Atlas: This match was a back-and-forth contest. Each competitor had this chance to shine and show off. The story of the whole tournament is still that Maverick is unsigned by the company and is the underdog. Kushida nearly had the win with a cross-arm breaker on Atlas, who was ready to tap out. But Maverick snuck in while Atlas had his shoulders on the mat and pinned him for the win.
Winner: Drake Maverick via Pinfall
Next up was an in-ring promo from Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. He is continuing his work as a heel and talking about how everyone needs to be thanking him for their jobs. This is the start of the first-ever Johnny Gargano Invitational. Adrian Alanis vs. Johnny Gargano is up next: This match was quick and all Gargano.
Winner: Johnny Gargano via Submission
After that match, we see Keith Lee and Mia Yim mocking the Gargano’s video from the week before. This whole thing sets up two matches. The first is set for next week with Candice LeRae vs. Mia Yim on NXT. The next is Keith Lee vs. Johnny Gargano for the North American Title at the upcoming PPV NXT: In Your House.
We have two more backstage segments following that as well. First up is Drake Maverick talking about his win, and Kushida walks up to talk to him. Maverick tells him that if he wins the belt that he will give him the first opportunity. Next up is a quick promo from Imperium that is aimed at Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, letting them know that no one is taking the tag-team titles off of their shoulders.
The next matchup is Shotzi Blackheart vs. Raquel Gonzalez: This one was another back-and-forth affair. Dakota Kai was at ringside for Gonzalez, so you know there would be some trouble along the way. As soon as the distractions from Kai started, out comes Tegan Nox. Not far behind her was Candice LeRae because of the role Nox played in the video earlier in the night that mocked her and Johnny. Overall, this match consisted of far too much interference and outside action, which took the spotlight away from the two in-ring competitors. During all of this, Dakota Kai still helps Gonzalez take advantage. She hits Blackheart with a Powerslam for the win.
Winner: Raquel Gonzalez via Pinfall
Io Shirai & Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair & Chelsea Green: This matchup was to set up to be more of a focus of the Triple Threat Women’s Championship match, In Your House. The best part is the Chelsea Green getting a nice bump to the top of the card to show her talent. At the end of the match, Shirai accidentally hits Ripley and gets rolled up for the pinfall loss by Flair.
Winners: Charlotte Flair & Chelsea Green via Pinfall.
Following that matchup is the Zoom meeting between General Manager William Regal and NXT Champion Adam Cole. There is a lot of back-and-forth between these two, and they finally settle on a title match for Cole at In Your House, where he will be facing Velveteen Dream. If Dream doesn’t win, he will not be able to challenge for the belt as long as Cole is champion. After that is over, we hear from Lorcan and Burch to finish off and set up their title match against Imperium at In Your House.
Time for another matchup. This time we have Leon Ruff vs. Tommaso Ciampa: This was another quick match. Ciampa was followed to the ring by Scarlette and kept an eye on her the whole time, even blowing her a kiss right before ending the match.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampa via Pinfall
Right after the match, Kross appears not the titantron and they continue to build toward what should be a very good match at NXT: In Your House.
Time for the Main Event, the Fight Pit match. This featured Matt Riddle vs. Timothy Thatcher with Special Guest Referee Kurt Angle. What a battle to start this fight off! The tide changed when Thatcher got hit with a showtime kick and came up a few seconds later bleeding from the mouth and losing teeth in that exchange. Riddle continues on the offense for a little bit before Thatcher gets it back. They make their way to the top of the cage and even tease a few moves off it. But the most brutal was an ankle lock from the top with Riddle hanging down as all his blood is rushing to his head. The battle finally comes to an end when Riddle rushes Thatcher and misses only to hit the cage, getting caught in a rear-naked chock. He runs around trying to break free only to get slammed into the cage a few times and fall to the mat and get choked out for the loss.
Winner: Timothy Thatcher via TKO
