Predictions: WWE Backlash

Who do you think will win each match at Backlash?

This will be the fifteenth edition of Backlash in WWE history. The event rejoined the rotation of events in 2016 after leaving back in 2009. This year’s edition seems to be very wrestling focused show with no major flash to it. We are set to see the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”, will it truly be that? Find out Sunday night!

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Street Profits vs. Viking Raiders

Amp: For weeks now it seems like the two teams have been involved in an “Anything you can do, I can do better” style competition. They will finally return to the ring for an actual match. Both teams walk into this one very even. So, it will really be champion’s advantage and they will stay in place. Winners: Street Profits

Chris: For the last-minute addition match, I like both tag teams and would be happy to see either team with the belts, but I feel like the Street Prophets have held onto them long enough without enough content-driven ideas. Between the silly competitions over the last month and no matches, I have the belt changing hands and seeing more in-ring action with the Viking Raiders. Winners: Viking Raiders

Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus

Amp: Jeff Hardy is out for major revenge after the last few weeks. Sheamus has put him through some brutal trouble, but Hardy is walking into this one with a little more momentum after Friday night. As long as he can stay focused he will walk out the winner. Winner: Jeff Hardy

Chris: Sheamus has been a pain in Hardy’s ass and I believe Hardy finishes him off. On top of being a great wrestler and having a huge comeback story, after that DWI hit-and-run promo, Hardy deserves a win on a Sunday night. Winner: Jeff Hardy

United States Championship Match: Apollo Crews vs. Andrade

Amp: This feud has been going on for a few months and the tides have finally changed for Crews after winning the title. This one might end up in a DQ finish. Winner: Apollo Crews

Chris: I think there could be a large number of people involved. Could be Angel Garza, Kevin Owens, or maybe even Andrade’s manager Zelina Vega. I think it has the potential to be a great match and Andrade will get screwed out of the belt due to outside interference. Apollo Crews will retain his title only by disqualification though. Winner: Apollo Crews

Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Bayley & Sasha Banks vs. The IIconics vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

Amp: Many people think that Sasha and Bayley are going to finally turn on each other. That is not going to happen yet, they want to build the women’s tag titles as legitimate titles. They will retain those titles in a very competitive match. Winners: Bayley & Sasha Banks

Chris: I don’t think The IIconics ever really had a shot, and like Miz and Morrison, I see a break up between Sasha and Bayley. I think it’s been a long time coming for the tag team. Post-match, I think one of them will put blame on the other for losing the belts, then Sasha will turn it into a title shot against Bayley. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross will win back their women’s tag titles. Winners: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

Edge vs. Randy Orton

Amp: “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever”, let’s see if they can really make this match one of the best ever. This is a tough match to call, but it will be a highly competitive match. Winner: Edge

Chris: In what many people are considering to be the greatest match ever, which I this is ridiculous by the way, I have Edge winning a long, exhausting, and difficult match. The bad blood is hotter than ever, and The Peep Show on Monday night gave Edge the extra boost he’s going to need to lock in the W. Winner: Edge

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Asuka vs. Nia Jax

Amp: Nia Jax seems to be walking into this match with almost all the momentum. But, Asuka is on a different level and she will get some redemption for all the issues that Nia has caused her over the last few weeks. Winner: Asuka

Chris: Nia Jax has been raining fire on Asuka and Kairi Sane over the last few weeks. I’d imagine Asuka is over it and is ready to get hers, and put this behind her. Jax is infamous for being a reckless and dangerous wrestler. I just really hope one of the most talented female superstars, Asuka, retains while staying safe in the ring. Asuka will retain her title against Nia Jax. Winner: Asuka

Universal Championship Match: Braun Strowman vs Miz & John Morrison

Amp: Strowman is at the disadvantage being in a 2-on-1 handicap match. He will get his retribution for the issues that Miz & Morrison have caused over the last two weeks. The Monster Among Men is an unstoppable force and will have no issue with these two. Winner: Braun Strowman

Chris: I think with the odd format of the match, the winner will not exactly be decisive to the tag team. This could very well be leading to a turn on the team, returning Morrison to the face side of the roster. The Miz and John Morrison will beat the monstrosity of a man in Braun Strowman. Winner: Miz & John Morrison

WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre vs Bobby Lashley

Amp: Lashey is a major threat to McIntyre’s title reign, even more so with MVP in his corner. That won’t be enough though, Drew will do whatever it takes to hold onto his title now that he finally reached the top of the company. Winner: Drew McIntyre

Chris: I think Lashley is an extremely overrated superstar. Sure, the loss of Lana and bringing in MVP has no doubt improved his game, but he is no match for McIntyre. I also think this will be the quickest match of the night just showing the raw dominance of McIntyre. Drew McIntyre will reign victorious over Lashley. Winner: Drew McIntyre
