MLB Makes Statement on Status of Field of Dreams Game

The MLB has issued a statement on the 2020 Field of Dreams Game.

On Tuesday morning the MLB issued a statement regarding the Field of Dreams Game originally scheduled for August 13.

. @MLB statement on MLB at Field of Dreams Game, scheduled for Aug. 13: “To date there has been no change in the status of the event, and we hope to have the option to play. Construction is continuing and we are following all CDC and state protocols regarding . . . “ @MLBNetwork

While it has already been stated previously that the Yankees will no longer participate in the event, the White Sox are still slated to take on an unknown opponent. With the shortened MLB schedule and teams only playing divisional opponents and their corresponding geographical division, it would make absolutely too much sense for the MLB to look back to the 1919 undertones this game has and schedule the Cincinnati Reds as the opponent.

If the game moves forward it HAS to be White Sox and Reds. After all that was the 1919 series matchup.
