Kris Bryant Considered Sitting Out 2020 MLB Season

Kris Bryant shares his feelings on the upcoming 2020 MLB season.

Testing for COVID-19 has not gone great for the MLB thus far. Many teams have seen delays in results from their tests. Many stars have stated their displeasure with the process thus far. Kris Bryant stated his concern on Monday.

Kris Bryant said he "absolutely" thought about opting out, with a newborn son at home. "It went through my mind," and it still is on his mind when he leaves the ballpark.

Bryant remains open to talking long-term deal with Cubs, but said he feels it's "insensitive" to discuss such things publicly right now when "people are losing their jobs and lives." Bigger issues in the world right now than his contract situation.

Kris Bryant admits that he doesn't feel entirely comfortable right now. That's why he's wearing mask on field, and keeping his distance from people. Hopes testing issues get worked out so players can feel 100% comfortable and safe.

Bryant, asked if he's still weighing whether to bow out:

"Can you imagine me opting out? I just couldn't do that. I'm going to do everything I can to be safe and healthy and lead by example."

It’s that last comment that has some fans ready to run through a wall. Theo and Company need to extend this man and they needed it yesterday.

Meanwhile, the fans hold out hope that the Cubs and all of the MLB stay safe and healthy while they ramp up to the start of the season.
