The New York Knicks are interviewing tons of candidates for their head coaching vacancy, which is not new news to anybody. However, today Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Chicago Bulls’ lead assistant, Chris Fleming, will be one of the candidates the Knicks will interview.
Fleming has experience as a head coach from his time with the German clubs QTSV and Brose. He made the move to coaching in the NBA in 2015 as an assistant with the Denver Nuggets. He subsequently coached as an assistant for the Brooklyn Nets from 2016-2019 before becoming the lead assistant in Chicago.
While it may be difficult to believe anyone on this abysmal Chicago Bulls team’s coaching staff could be qualified for a head coaching gig, Fleming was incredibly successful in Germany and he is considered to be a great offensive mind around the league. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls are still seemingly content chilling with Jim Boylen on the bench. Check back for updates as this situation develops.
