Today the NHL released matchups for exhibition games prior to the Qualifying Round of the 24-team postseason. Each team will play just one exhibition game. The Blackhawks will face the Blues on Wednesday, July 29th at 5:30 PM central time.
This will give teams a chance to compete against an opponent before jumping right into playoff hockey. Though the game does not officially count, still expect the Blackhawks and Blues to compete hard. For some players, it is a chance to show the coaching staff they deserve a spot in the lineup. As for more established players, it allows them to get back to game speed before the real competition starts.
Along with the announcement of exhibition games, the NHL also released start times Qualifying Round games.
The Blackhawks and Oilers will face off at 2 PM central time for the opener against the Oilers on August 1st before moving to the 9:30 PM time slot for games two and three, which take place on August 3rd and 5th.
Game times for the “if necessary” games will be announced if those games are indeed necessary.
