The Chicago White Sox newly acquired right fielder, Nomar Mazara, has been placed on the 10-day IL. Mazara was acquired in a trade with the Texas Rangers on December 11, 2019. The trade sent former White Sox prospect Steele Walker to the Rangers’ organization.
The White Sox have been asked about Nomar’s absence as of late, but just said he was battling an illness and was unavailable. The White Sox have been starting utility man Leury Garcia and outfielder Adam Engel in Mazara’s place.
With it being a 60-game season, and the Sox wanting to start off strong, the play might be to start Nick Madrigal at second base and have Garcia/Engel play in RF until Mazara is cleared to return.
