As reported by Russell Dorsey, Ian Happ said that all 30 team representatives had a conversation with the MLBPA today. Also via Ian Happ, the Reds and Cubs have been in communication about the tests in order to have a safe playing environment for the players tonight.
After reports surfaced this morning that 14 members of the Miami Marlins organization tested positive for COVID-19, the league and many fans are on edge today, fearing a pause or complete shutdown of the MLB season that just resumed less than a week ago.
As of now, only the Yankees vs. Phillies and Marlins vs. Orioles games have been postponed and canceled, respectively. The league expects the rest of the teams to take the field today against their respective opponents.
Now is the time for the MLB to put procedures in place to further enhance the players’ safety. The idea of a bubble is probably out of the question at this time, but the league needs to do something to better protect players and coaches if they have any hope of completing the 2020 season.
