The Chicago Cubs have made the first of what is likely to be many bullpen moves this season. The club called up Colin Rea and optioned Dillon Maples to South Bend this afternoon.
Dillon Maples has some of the nastiest stuff you will find on a Major League mound today. The only problem is he can’t seem to locate said nasty stuff. Maples walked four Cincinnati Reds while giving up two earned runs in last night’s 12-7 loss.
Colin Rea has not pitched in the MLB since 2016 due to elbow surgery. However, the righty did pitch very well for the Iowa Cubs last summer, boasting a 14-4 record with a sub-4 ERA.
Here’s to hoping Colin Rea can help the dire situation the Cubs bullpen is currently in.
