The TNT Championship has been a staple of AEW Dynamite each and every week. The championship was made official during an announcement on AEW’s YouTube series “Road To Dynamite” in March this year. The eight-man single-elimination tournament started in early April and ended at their PPV Double or Nothing on May 23rd. That was also the same night the title was revealed to the world with Mike Tyson at the show to present it.
The final match featured Lance Archer vs. Cody, with Cody walking out as champion. The major issue people had that night was the title itself. It was made a joke all over social media that it was the worst title in all of professional wrestling. Little did people know at that time it was incomplete. It is very simple to understand why after hearing from people within the company that the design was unable to be done by the time of the title match due to the pandemic.
For nearly three months, wrestling fans were wondering if we would ever see the final design. Well, Cody Rhodes recently announced on Twitter that the final design would be finished up on August 12th.
That date is right in line with an episode of AEW Dynamite. Since winning the title, Cody has defended it a total of seven times. In the upcoming episode of Dynamite, he seems to have the week off from defending the title. He will be in a tag team match with Matt Cardona going up against The Dark Order.
So, will Cody be defending the title that night? Will he actually be the first to hold the final design? We will finally get to see the title soon enough.
