With the Cardinals series featuring numerous doubleheaders upcoming, the Cubs lose one of their starting pitchers for the upcoming series.
In a corresponding move, the Cubs have recalled Jason Adam to take Chatwood’s place on the roster.
Two doubleheaders this week against the Cardinals poses a serious challenge for the Cubs’ pitching staff. Ideally, the Cubs will be able to work through the loss of Chatwood and play well against division foe St. Louis.
Adam pitched 23 games for Toronto in the 2019 campaign, sporting a 2.91 ERA, a 3–0 record and 18 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched.
