For the most part, the quarterback and cornerback position battles have been the hot ticket headlines for the Chicago Bears. However, the team has a legitimate battle happening at right guard as well.
Germain Ifedi, Alex Bars, and Rashaad Coward have been the three rotating at the position, but Ifedi has reportedly been taking control early on. Bears’ offensive line coach Juan Castillo raved about the former Seahawks first-round pick on Wednesday, highlighting Germain’s work against a fan favorite.
This is not the first time Castillo has publicly praised Ifedi.
It’s still early in camp and there’s still much more to be seen from the players. It should also be noted that the coaching staff has been painstakingly quiet when it comes to competitions. With the team still being fresh in pads, plenty can change in a matter of 20 days. However, it’s hard to imagine Germain Ifedi receiving praise this early in the process can be seen as ‘fluff’.
