Ahead of today’s series finale against the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox optioned rookie RHP Dane Dunning to the Schaumberg taxi squad and recalled outfielder Nicky Delmonico.
Dunning pitched well in his MLB debut last night, as he recorded a final line of 4.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 7 K. The young righty will likely be recalled when the White Sox need him again next weekend, but the upcoming week containing two off days allows the club some flexibility when it comes to starting pitching decisions.
With Leury Garcia on the shelf for the season and Luis Robert dealing with right-hand soreness, Nicky Delmonico enters the picture to supplement outfield depth. Delmonico has appeared in six games for the White Sox this season, posting an underwhelming slash line of .150/.227/.150 in 22 plate appearances.
