Lucas Giolito Wins MLB AL Player of the Week
Highlighted by a no-hitter, the White Sox SP is the second White Sox player in consecutive weeks to earn the honor.
White Sox SP Lucas Giolito, 26, had himself a great week. The highlight of the week was his no-hitter on August 25, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In the no-hitter against the Pirates, Giolito managed to record 13 strikeouts and only throw 101 pitches throughout the entire game.
This is the South Sider’s second week in a row having a player named the MLB’s AL Player of the Week. The week prior, Jose Abreu won the honors.
Throughout the rest of the season, the White Sox will look to continue this hot streak. They have won 11 of the last 13 outings. They are looking to finish strong as Baseball Reference has the Sox at a 98% chance of making the playoffs, in this years expanded 16-team playoff set.
