MLB Gambling Picks – 9/8/20
Three MLB betting picks to place as Tuesday’s action commences.
On the season, I am sitting at 96-81 (54.2%) and 18-12 over the past seven days. I have three picks for you to start this Tuesday and possibly will add one later on Twitter. I like baseball. Baseball is fun. Winning money is fun. Let’s win money on baseball so we have more fun!
Blue Jays vs. Yankees
The Blue Jays have beaten the Yankees in two straight games and now lead them in the American League East by 2.0 games. Typically, the spot bet would be to grab the Yankees on the moneyline here. I will go against the starter, J.A. Happ instead. The Blue Jays slash .270/.339/.441 as a team versus lefties and sport a .375 xwOBA against Happ in 104 combined plate appearances. Taijuan Walker also throws for the Jays, who ranks in the 86th percentile in allowed Hard Hit Percentage. Pair that with an ailing Yankees lineup (slashing .208/.307/.337 over their last seven games), and you have a tough battle. Take the rising Jays.
Pick: Blue Jays -115
Nationals vs. Rays
Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays takes the hill against the Nationals’ Anibal Sanchez. I would give the advantage to Yarbrough here, specifically because Anibal Sanchez is terrible. He ranks in the 11th percentile in Barrel Percentage and the 19th percentile in Exit Velocity. Plus, he is battling the Rays after a loss. The Nats do hit lefties well, but I believe Yarbrough should keep them in check for the short-term and hand it to the Rays bullpen after the offense does some damage. This is an easy spot bet. Expect the Rays to get ahead early.
Pick: Rays -157
Pirates vs. White Sox
Pittsburgh’s Joe Musgrove battles Dylan Cease of the White Sox in this matchup of two juggernauts… not really. The Pirates are so bad, and the White Sox will mash a pitcher like Musgrove. They hold a 119 WRC+ as a team, which should make any pitcher nervous. The South Siders are coming off a weekend of making the Royals rotation look like they were throwing batting practice for four straight days. All Cease has to do is locate the fastball and the Sox should easily take tonight’s contest. Nomar Mazara is 5-15 lifetime against Musgrove and 7-for-21 in his last five games. It might be time for him to hit his first White Sox dinger. Cease should be able to keep things stable before the offense gets to Musgrove.
Pick: White Sox -144
That does it for today’s picks, folks. As always, follow me on Twitter @cwsdjt. I give out picks daily in addition to these articles. There could even be a couple more picks later today, so stay tuned and good luck!
