Jonathan Stiever to Start Today’s Game for the White Sox
The White Sox prospect is set to make his MLB debut a year before he was expected to.
In a surprising move ahead of Saturday’s game, the White Sox have promoted Jonathan Stiever to the MLB team. Stiever is the organization’s 6th ranked prospect.
His original timeline to make the team was 2021, but with the shortened season and the injury to Dallas Keuchel, all hands are on deck for the young team.
Stiever features a fastball in the mid-90s. In 2019, he had a 3.48 combined ERA between Single-A Kannapolis and A+ Winston-Salem with 154 Ks and 27 BBs. His location is impeccable and most likely what forced his way onto the big league ball club.
The White Sox host the Tigers at Guaranteed Rate Field on Sunday for a 1:10 p.m. CDT first pitch. Facing Stiever in his MLB debut is Spencer Turnbull. The game can be watched on NBC Sports Chicago and can listen to the game on WGN 720 AM Radio.
