Fantasy Football Week 2 Waiver Wire Additions

Wondering who to add to your fantasy football team on the waiver wire ahead of week 2? Look no further.

Week one of the NFL season has finally come and gone, and what a great week it was. I don’t think I have ever had such anticipation for football in my entire life. The first week of action featured several boom-bust games and plenty of upsets. We saw teams and quarterbacks struggle to move the ball, and we also saw Aaron Rodgers return to MVP form.

Throughout the entire 2020 season, I will be bringing you weekly waiver wire adds. Without further delay, let’s dive into the first installment. I will only be using players that are available in more than 50% of leagues on ESPN and I will list them in my waiver priority order.

Dallas Goedert – 27% Owned

Goedert put together a great Sunday for the Eagles as their top receiving option. Make no mistake about it, Zach Ertz is still the TE1 in Philadelphia. However, Goedert is a stud and he hauled in eight catches for 101 yards and a score on Sunday. Goedert was also a top-12 TE in 2019, so his success isn’t surprising. He should be rostered in every league.

Nyheim Hines – 34% Owned

Hines was a major factor for the Colts’ offense in their Sunday matchup against the Jags. He was effective in the red zone and played a major role on third downs, as was expected. With the injury to Marlon Mack, it is now time for the Jonathan Taylor show, but expect Hines to be very involved in the passing game moving forward.

Jonnu Smith – 22% Owned

The athletic freak TE for Tennessee was able to find the end zone on Monday night. He was poised to be a breakout candidate in 2020, and after week one he didn’t disappoint. Jonnu isn’t a bonafide weekly starter right now, but throw him on the end of your bench and see if he continues to be productive.

James Robinson – 28% Owned

Who was the one running back in the league to have all of his team’s RB rushing attempts? Saquon Barkley? Christian McCaffrey? Ezekiel Elliott? No, it was Jacksonville RB, James Robinson. Prior to last week, most people probably had never even heard of him. With the departure of Fournette in addition to Armstead and Ozigbo both being on the COVID-19 list or on IR, Robinson was afforded a great opportunity as the lead back and he did a decent job with it. Robinson is worth a stash for a while to see what happens with the Jags’ RB situation as the season progresses.

Parris Campbell – 30% Owned

Campbell led the Colts in targets on Sunday in his sophomore season debut. The speedster was able to create separation and serve as a viable weapon for Philip Rivers. Outside of T.Y. Hilton, the Colts needed production from other receivers and Campbell looks like he may just be the one to do it. Campbell has a big-play ability that we saw in college, but it has yet to surface in NFL action. Mastering that part of his game could really put him over the top for fantasy football production.

Notable Mentions:

  • Russell Gage – WR, ATL
  • Joshua Kelley – RB, LAC
  • Laviska Shenault Jr. – WR, JAX

That does it for this week’s fantasy football waiver wire adds. Be sure to tune in to the Fantasy Hour On Tap podcast for analysis, updates, and advice throughout the 2020 season.
