BREAKING: Corey Crawford Will Not Re-Sign With Blackhawks

Stan Bowman announced today that longtime Chicago Blackhawks’ goalie Corey Crawford will not re-sign with the team this offseason.

Ahead of 2020 NHL free agency, Stan Bowman met with Chicago media to discuss some of the pressing issues facing the Blackhawks.

He came out firing by dropping the bombshell news that longtime goalie Corey Crawford will not be re-signing with the Blackhawks.

Whether the Blackhawks will search the market for another goalie or not isn’t clear just yet, but Bowman followed up his comments by placing faith in Rockford IceHogs netminders Collin Delia and Kevin Lankinen.

This news is certainly a tough pill to swallow for Blackhawks fans, as Corey Crawford has been the mainstay in goal for Chicago over the past decade. The 35-year-old netminder won two Stanley Cups with the organization and posted a 260-162-53 record, .918 SV%, and 2.45 GAA in 488 games over 13 seasons with the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks reportedly offered Crawford a contract exactly one month ago, but obviously the two sides weren’t able to come to an agreement. This news certainly marks the end of an era in Chicago and perhaps the start of a larger-scale tear-down.
