Blackhawks Re-Sign Dominik Kubalik and Malcolm Subban to 2-Year Deals

The Chicago Blackhawks have re-signed forward Dominik Kubalik and goalie Malcolm Subban to two-year contracts to kick off 2020 NHL free agency.

Right at the 11 AM CT start time on the first day of 2020 NHL free agency, the Blackhawks announced two re-signings.

The big news here is obviously regarding Dominik Kubalik. The Czech winger put together an outstanding rookie campaign for the Blackhawks in 2019-20, posting 30 goals and 16 assists. He also was a finalist for the Calder Trophy. Kubalik re-signed with Chicago today for two years at a $3.7 million cap hit.

The team also re-signed goalie Malcolm Subban to a two-year contract that carries an $850K cap hit. This news follows yesterday’s announcement that longtime goalie Corey Crawford would not re-sign with the Blackhawks. Subban is expected to compete with Rockford IceHogs goalies Kevin Lankinen and Collin Delia for the Blackhawks’ net in 2021.
