On Tap Bets – NFL Week 6 Edition
A handful of picks to get your NFL betting started for Week 6!
If you haven’t seen the record for my NFL betting picks, we’re above .500. If you’re following me, we’re making money. The goal here is to keep it going in Week 6 NFL action. Here we go!
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers
This game might be the matchup of the weekend for a lot of NFL fans. The Browns and Steelers are entering this Week 6 contest with records of 4-1 and 4-0, respectively. The fact that the Browns are tied for second place with the Baltimore Ravens is mind-boggling. However, on the other hand, the Steelers once again tapped into their wideout factory and have turned Chase Claypool into a phenom receiver after selecting him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
After doing research and consuming several analyses, the point of health is brought up often when discussing this game. The Browns are a bit beat up, whereas the Steelers are not. Big Ben is playing really well also, so this game looks to be in favor of the Steelers. I don’t think it’ll be a blow out by any means, but I do like the Steelers to continue their winning ways.
Pick: Steelers -3.5
Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings made me look like an ass last week, as they destroyed my perfect article when they only lost by one point to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are arguably the best team in the NFC, so for the Vikings to hang around shows they have turned a bit of a corner. They’re without Dalvin Cook this weekend, but Alexander Mattison has carried the load serviceably in his absence.
As for Atlanta, that team is a garbage fire. Dan Quinn is finally gone, so I want to sit here and think they’ll come out flying just like the Texans did after firing Bill O’Brien. However, I can’t imagine this Falcons team putting forth that level of response. They’ve struggled and even the typically consistent Matt Ryan has looked shaky at times.
That said, it’ll be close, but I still like the Vikings to take this one on the spread. If the spread comes down to -3.5 or even -2.5, I’d hammer this. If the spread grows any higher than the -4 or -4.5 that it is at now, I’d avoid it. Overall, I like the Vikings in this matchup.
Pick: Vikings -4
Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This game will be one for the ages. It’s no surprise they’re in the 3:25 PM CDT slot. I think it will be a tightly-contested affair, but considering the Bears found the recipe for success against the Buccaneers and Green Bay also touts a strong defense, I think the Packers have the edge here.
Tampa Bay will want to show that last Thursday’s loss to the Bears was a fluke, however, there is no denying that Brady struggled against Chicago’s quality defense. Green Bay’s defense is quite good as well; it’s pretty similar to that of the Bears in a lot of ways, with the only major difference being Khalil Mack. I like the Packers, especially at -1 in this game.
Pick: Packers -1
I try not to bet the hometown favorite Bears because I usually bet with my heart and not my brain, which all the more reason I didn’t bet their Week 5 contest against the Buccaneers. However, the fact that the Bears are underdogs this week makes me smile. This team has been a dog all season, but their record sits at 4-1. If you’re feeling brave, like I’m sure I will in the coming hours, then I’d take the Bears spread at +1.5 or the moneyline with the Bears at +100.
Good luck this week, bettors! If I suck, you every right to roast me. If we do well, let’s keep it moving!
