Yu Darvish Named Finalist for NL Cy Young Award
The Cubs’ pitcher had a magical 2020 season, helping lead the Cubs to a NL Central division title.
After an incredible year for RHP Yu Darvish, he is being recognized for his play. The BBWAA announced today he is a finalist for the NL Cy Young award.
Darvish was incredible this season for the Cubs. After being the best pitcher in baseball during the second half of 2019, Darvish followed that up with a Cy Young finalist nomination.
The big right hander pitched his way to an 8-3 record in 12 starts, with a 2.01 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, and 93 strikeouts in 76 innings of work.
The Cy Young awards will be announced on November 11 per the BBWAA. Darvish has a strong chance of winning the award.
Although deGrom had a nice season, only Trevor Bauer had numbers that are better than Darvish’s. Believe it or not, Darvish’s underlying numbers actually suggest that he’s the best pitcher in the NL, and deserving of the Cy Young award.
