The Chicago White Sox had five 2020 Rawlings Gold Glove finalists. The awards were announced tonight, and only one South Sider took home any hardware.
Luis Robert
Rookie centerfielder Luis Robert is officially the winner of the 2020 American League Center Field Gold Glove Award.
Often overshadowed by his end-of-season offensive slump, Robert played a reliable center field throughout the entirety of the 2020 campaign. He posted stellar figures of just one error, eight Defensive Runs Saved Above Average (Baseball-Reference), and a 3.4 defensive rating from FanGraphs.
He also made tough plays, like the one below, look incredibly easy on a regular basis.
Robert beat out Byron Buxton of the Twins and Ramon Laureano of the Athletics to win the award.
