The Associated Press ranks Illinois No. 8 in Preseason Top-25 Poll
The Illini cracked the AP Top-25 Preseason poll for the first time in 10 seasons.
For the first time in ten seasons, the Illinois men’s basketball team is ranked in The Associated Press Top-25 Preseason Poll at number eight.
This is the first season Illinois is ranked in the top-25 poll since the 2010-2011 season when they opened at number 13.
The last time they were ranked in the preseason top-ten poll was the memorable 2004-05 season when they advanced to the NCAA National Championship and eventually fell to North Carolina.
The Preseason All-Big Ten Team also included Illini representation, as Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn were unanimous selections.
The upcoming college basketball season for Illinois fans might be the most anticipated since the last time the orange and blue went to the aforementioned national championship.
The 2020-21 NCAA basketball season tips off on November 25th.
