The White Sox will reportedly hire their next bench coach in light of all of the news surrounding Tony La Russa and his legal struggles. Former big leaguer, Miguel Cairo, will take over the backup manager duties, per Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.
Cairo previously worked as a special assistant to the general manager, bench coach, and third base coach for the Cincinnati Reds after his playing career. He followed that by serving in a player development role for the New York Yankees.
Cairo will take over for Joe McEwing, who previously served as the White Sox bench coach from 2017-2020.
