White Sox at Angels Will Be the First Sunday Night Baseball Broadcast of 2021
The White Sox and Angels will face off in ESPN’s first Sunday Night Baseball broadcast of the 2021 season.
The Chicago White Sox open the 2021 season with a four-game series against the Angels in Anaheim beginning on Thursday, April 1st. The finale of that series on April 4th will air on ESPN as their first Sunday Night Baseball broadcast of the season (7:30 PM CT), per Jesse Rogers of ESPN.
Despite all of the offseason noise surrounding the controversial hiring of Tony La Russa as the team’s next manager, the White Sox still have a young, exciting roster that is poised to compete for a division title in 2021. The South Siders are clearly gaining more national attention as their competitive window opens.
White Sox fans have been critical of ESPN in recent years due to the network’s neglect of the club in various graphics depicting championship teams that excluded the 2005 World Series team. With a return to relevance comes a return to the national spotlight, however, as the White Sox will be part of the Sunday Night Baseball primetime broadcast for the second time in as many years.
The last time the South Siders played in such an affair came on Sunday, August 9th of 2020 when they dropped a 5-4 extra-inning contest to the Cleveland Indians.
