After the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out MLB’s Field of Dreams game in 2020, they’ll give it another go in 2021.
The White Sox and Yankees are now scheduled to play at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa, on August 12th, 2021. The game will air nationally on FOX.
The Yankees were supposed to be the White Sox opponent for the originally scheduled 2020 matchup, but the geographic division-only alignment due to COVID-19 landed the Cardinals in that spot. However, St. Louis dealt with an outbreak of the virus throughout their clubhouse early on in the 2020 season and the game was eventually postponed.
As LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reported, plans for the game and the possibility of fans in attendance will hinge upon the status of public health amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a full season planned for 2021, the White Sox will be on the national stage against an AL East powerhouse in what should be an exciting mid-August matchup at a unique venue.
