On Tap Bets: College Basketball Edition – 12/2/20
3 wagers to get you started for the Wednesday slate of college basketball.
Welcome back to a wonderful season of college basketball! To begin the season, I sit at a 14-10 record (+6.04 Units) with picks I’ve distributed on Twitter, so you cannot ask for a better start. We have a packed night of hoops on Wednesday, so let’s get right to the first article of the 2020-21 college hoops season containing the best value bets of the day.
Oregon (-4) vs. Missouri
Oregon is a far better team than Mizzou. Mizzou does return the core of their scorers, but Oregon lands Eric Williams, Jr. and Eugene Omoruyi to head their laundry list of transfers. The Ducks look completely different this year, but that does not necessarily mean they are bad. KenPom.com has the Ducks with the 15th ranked adjusted offensive efficiency and 20th overall, while Missouri ranks 55th overall. Dru Smith, Xavier Pinson, and Mark Smith can all score, but Oregon should outmatch the Tigers. Look for them to cover the number easily.
Pick: Oregon -4
Ohio State (-24) vs. Morehead State
Morehead State enters their matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes with a 1-2 record, losing sizably to both Richmond and Kentucky. Expect more of the same with this game. Get this as soon as possible because this line should only grow. Cal transfer Justice Sueing is a welcomed addition to the Buckeyes, but the team has four other players averaging double digits through their first two games. Ohio State should handle this number pretty easily and could win this game by 35. Take the number.
Pick: Ohio State -24
North Florida vs. Florida State (-25.5)
Again, this is another large line, but do not forget one of the best coaches in the country, Leonard Hamilton, leads the Seminoles. They should be ready for this game since it is their first of the season after last week’s contest with Gardner-Webb was postponed due to COVID-19 issues for the Gardner-Webb program. North Florida already played three games in November, but they lost all three. Their closest matchup was against Eastern Kentucky, a game in which they lost by 13. North Florida ranks 304th in all of college hoops, according to KenPom.com. Florida State’s only setback could be shaking off the rust of not playing since March, which might only show in the first half.
Pick: Florida State -25.5
