Len Kasper to Leave Cubs for White Sox Radio Gig
Len Kasper will reportedly leave the Cubs TV booth to join the White Sox radio broadcast team.
Per Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic, notable Cubs TV announcer, Len Kasper will leave his post with the Cubs to announce on ESPN 1000 Radio Chicago with Darrin Jackson for the Chicago White Sox.
This comes as a surprising move. Kasper has always wanted the flexibility to announce a World Series run, which he would be able to do while announcing on the radio and not TV because those broadcasts go to the nationally televised stations. However, there was little speculation about him leaving the Cubs anytime soon.
Now, no one knows the exact reasons for Kasper’s departure to the Cubs’ crosstown rival, but speculation includes disagreement with ownership, lack of exposure to a national audience with the new Marquee Network, and the potential for another Cubs’ rebuild.
Either way, the move comes as a shock to both Cubs and Sox fans, as Kasper is a well-known announcer across the league. Being on ESPN radio could provide other avenues of announcing for Kasper, but time will tell. For the time being, White Sox fans should be excited to have one of the best announcers around calling games all season long on the radio for them, making their broadcasts elite across all platforms.
