Per James Fegan of The Athletic, the White Sox selected Martin Carrasco from the Padres in the minor league phase today’s Rule 5 Draft.
Carrasco projects as a bullpen piece who currently touts a 2.73 ERA over 102.1 innings in 42 games across A-ball and Rookie leagues. The White Sox have a tendency to find bullpen additions where other teams do not see fit. This is arguably the best part of their scouting department.
As the White Sox gain a minor-league pitcher, they are losing one as well. The Braves selected A.J. Puckett, a right-handed starter who last appeared in 2017 for the Winston-Salem Dash.
