Kirby Dach Exits World Juniors Exhibition Game with Apparent Arm Injury

Kirby Dach appeared to sustain a right arm injury in Team Canada’s exhibition contest against Russia.

Blackhawks’ forward Kirby Dach is currently serving as the captain of Team Canada at the World Junior Championship.

In Team Canada’s exhibition contest against Russia tonight, Dach exited the ice early after sustaining an apparent hand or wrist injury. Here’s a video of the play:

After Dach delivered a check in the neutral zone, he immediately removed his hand from his glove and skated to the bench. He entered the tunnel behind the Canadian bench and has not returned to the game.

The severity of Dach’s injury is currently unknown. Check back for further updates as they become available.

UPDATE: 12/23/20, 8:04 PM CT – While there is no official update on Kirby Dach’s status, Ryan Rishaug of TSN reports that the Blackhawks’ forward requires further x-rays.

UPDATE: 12/24/20, 9:24 AM CT – There is still no indication regarding the specifics of the injury, but Kirby Dach’s time is officially done at World Juniors. He will also miss the beginning of the NHL regular season.
