The Cubs have found their new voice.
After losing longtime play-by-play television announcer Len Kasper to the rival White Sox, the Cubs made a splash in hiring ESPN baseball announcer Jon Sciambi Monday.
Sciambi, nicknamed “Boog”, has been worked extensively with ESPN calling national baseball broadcasts since 2010. He’s also called college basketball games as well.
Before calling games for ESPN, he worked as the play-by-play caller for the Atlanta Braves. He was also an announcer for the Florida Marlins from 1997-2004.
Cubs fans will always have a love for Kasper, but Sciambi is a fantastic get for Marquee, a network that’s seemingly had nothing but negative attention since its launch last year. Adding Sciambi helps add something positive to the network.
