Norm Maciver Leaves Blackhawks’ Front Office to Join Seattle Kraken
The Blackhawks’ former Assistant GM is taking the Director of Player Personnel job with the Seattle Kraken.
According to Mark Lazerus and Scott Powers of The Athletic, Norm Maciver has decided to leave the Blackhawks to take a job with the Seattle Kraken.
According to Lazerus and Powers, the reason behind the decision was Maciver’s falling out from Stan Bowman’s inner circle.
For Maciver, that’s a fair reason to leave. After Kevin Chevaldayoff and Marc Bergevin took their assistant GM roles with the Blackhawks and turned them into GM gigs elsewhere, many assumed Maciver would eventually follow a similar path.
However, that never happened. To make matters worse, Maciver fell out of Bowman’s inner circle and was actually demoted in the recent front-office shakeup.
Maciver will serve as the Director of Player Personnel for the Seattle Kraken, who will be the NHL’s 32nd team beginning in 2021-22. Although the move is lateral, it is clear that Maciver needed a fresh start outside of Chicago.
