Cairo Santos Named Special Teams Player of the Month
Bears kicker Cairo Santos earned the Special Teams Player of the Month for December after hitting all nine field goals and 14/15 extra points.
Although Bears fans were outraged that Cairo Santos wasn’t named to the Pro Bowl, but Santos earned a consolation prize.
Cairo Santos was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December, after hitting all nine of his field goals and 14/15 on extra points. Santos tallied 51 total points in the month of December and for once, the Bears are more worried about their defense than their special teams.
Cairo Santos 100% field goal percentage hasn’t just been for the month of December, Santos hasn’t missed a field goal since the Falcons game on September 27th. His perfect field goal percentage from October to December moved him ahead of Robbie Gould for most consecutive field goals made in a Bears uniform. Gould’s record was 26, and Santos is currently at 27.
Santos’ career FG percentage is 83%, and he posted a 93% for the 2020 season with the Bears. His is currently having the best season of his career and the last thing we need is an announcers curse so ill leave it at this. Santos has been playing out of his mind and is most likely due for a shank, let’s just hope it doesn’t come at a crucial time.
