Blackhawks Place Four Players on Waivers
The Blackhawks have placed four players on waivers as they work toward finalizing their opening night roster.
With the 2021 NHL regular season beginning this week, teams are taking steps to finalize their opening night rosters. A flurry of players are landing on the waiver wire across the league, and the situation in Chicago is no exception.
This morning, the Blackhawks placed Anton Lindholm, John Quenneville, Nick Seeler, and Matt Tomkins on waivers.
None of these names are particularly surprising waiver candidates for the Hawks.
Ian Mitchell’s arrival limits available spots on the blue line for the likes of Lindholm and Seeler.
Offseason additions Mattias Janmark and Lucas Wallmark plus Pius Suter seemingly already being penciled into the lineup bumped Quenneville down amongst the forward corps.
Matt Tomkins attended Blackhawks training camp for supplemental goalie depth but most expected him to make up a piece of the goalie combination in Rockford this season.
If these players clear waivers in 24 hours, they can be assigned to the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. Blackhawks’ forward Zack Smith previously cleared waivers ahead of training camp.
