In one of Donald Trump’s last acts as President, he issued pardons to rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.
Lil Wayne, who wasn’t sentenced, pled guilty to carrying a loaded firearm on a private jet. He was prohibited from owning firearms due to past felony convictions and was potentially facing ten years in prison.
Kodak Black, who was serving a four-year prison sentence, pled guilty to weapons charges resulting from an arrest at the Rolling Loud Festival in May 2019. He had lied about his past criminal history when acquiring firearms.
When the White House released the list of 143 people granted clemency last night, Tiger King icon Joe Exotic was not included. Joe Exotic and his legal team applied for a Presidential pardon in September. Exotic is famous for being the focal point of the Netflix documentary Tiger King that became popular during the stay-at-home orders in March 2020.
Exotic is in on a 22-year sentence for a murder-for-hire plot involving Carole Baskin. He also has other violations of wildlife laws to his name dealing with the selling and death of some tigers.
As of last night, Exotic’s lawyers had a limo with a pick-up truck bed staged at their offices waiting for the call from the President. That’s where the rumors of a potential pardon originated from.
When asked the first thing Exotic would do, his lawyer, Eric Love, said, “Get his hair done.” It seems that hair appointment is going to have to wait for a few more years.
Twitter also seemed to have fun with the Exotic missing out on the pardon as jokes and memes were aplenty.
Netflix has yet to comment if there will be a continuation of the Tiger King documentary.
