Thaddeus Young is now an owner of a professional sports team. Young recently purchased a minority stake in the Brisbane Bullets of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL). The story was first reported by the New York Times.
The NBL was formed in 1979 as Australia’s premiere professional basketball competition and the Bullets are one of two founding member teams still in existence today. Brisbane is also a part of arguably Australia’s biggest rivalry, which is between the Bullets and the Adelaide 36ers.
The Bullets have won three NBL championships but have not won since 2007. They also narrowly missed the playoffs last season, so hopefully Thad Young’s input can have a positive effect.
The connection between Young and the Bullets is Kevin Martin, the current majority-owner of the NBL team. Martin and Young were teammates with the Timberwolves in 2014-15 and are still friends to this day.
