NBC Univeral’s Peacock streaming service will be the new home of WWE Network starting on March 18th, 2021. This move is only for US customers and it will bring the entire Peacock library with it. The agreement between the two sides appears to be a multi-year deal and should open doors for both companies. This news comes only a few days after the announcement of NBC Sports Network closing up shop by the end of the year.

For customers that currently subscribe to WWE Network, there will be no price increase. The only major change for such subscribers could be downgrading the package from $9.99 to $4.99, as the cheaper option will have commercials and ad breaks while the other option will not. Another advantage goes to Xfinity customers because they already get Peacock for free with their subscriptions and will now get WWE Network as part of the deal. This move comes at an ideal time for the WWE because they will be running two PPV’s shortly after this deal begins. The first will be Fast Lane followed by the biggest PPV of the year in WrestleMania.

This move opens doors for both platforms in positive ways. For WWE, it could surely help grow the product to new or old viewers. The WWE Network currently has around 1.3 million subscribers in the US and will likely gain many more with this move. Peacock has a much larger subscriber count — over 22 million on — its platform. For them, the agreement brings a product that helps differentiate their platform from all other streaming services. This is a rare case in which both companies should be able to grow and it makes things a bit less crowded with all these different streaming services.
