The Chicago Blackhawks will take on the Nashville Predators in the second of back-to-back games at Bridgestone Arena tonight. After the Hawks fell in overtime by a score of 3-2 last night, there will be a couple of lineup changes heading into tonight’s tilt.
Of little surprise, Kevin Lankinen will make his fourth start for the Blackhawks after Malcolm Subban held down the net on Tuesday. Lankinen has saved 80 of 88 shots, good for a .909 SV% and 2.63 GAA, over three games thus far. The Blackhawks have picked up at least one point in each game he has started.
On the back end, Nicolas Beaudin will draw into the lineup for the first time this season. He will likely replace Lucas Carlsson, who saw 15:36 TOI in his season debut last night. Beaudin skated in what would be the Blackhawks’ final regular-season game of the 2019-20 campaign and tallied two shots, two blocks, and two hits in 17:01 TOI. Blackhawks’ head coach Jeremy Colliton said he liked what he saw from Beaudin in training camp when the team reconvened ahead of the 2021 season.
With Adam Boqvist sidelined for at least two weeks after being placed in the NHL’s COVID-19 Protocol, the Blackhawks coaching staff will have a chance to see what the team’s other young defensemen have to offer. Carlsson got the first crack, Beaudin will get a chance tonight, and one would expect others waiting in the wings to see the ice at some point as well.
