Well, this isn’t good now, is it? Chicago Bulls’ starting power forward Lauri Markkanen will miss two to four weeks due to a right shoulder injury. The injury occurred Friday night against the Orlando Magic.

Markkanen is in a contract year with the Bulls and will enter restricted free agency at the end of the season. This past offseason, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on an extension with Markkanen taking the Jimmy Butler route of betting on himself.

Out of 22 Bulls games this season, Markkanen has only appeared in 14 of them. He missed time early on due to COVID-19 exposure and he also dealt with a minor ankle injury. In his four-year stint with the Bulls, Markkanen has only appeared in more than 60 games once, and that was in his rookie season.

With trade rumors swirling around the Chicago Bulls, one has to wonder if the fans will see Markkanen in a Bulls jersey again. Lauri has battled the injury bug since entering the league, but with Artūras Karnišovas and Marc Eversley in an “evaluation” period right now, this doesn’t bode well for the big man to secure the money he was looking for.
